The Opinel No.08 Black Oak is a pocket knife with an oak handle, an 8.5 cm Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel blade with a blackened finish and a blackened Virobloc locking ring, 19.5 cm in overall length.

The Black Oak edition differs from the traditional No.08 only in its blackened surfaces: both the blade and the Virobloc locking ring have a dark, matt black coating. This darkening reduces surface reflections, giving the classic wood-and-steel Opinel a more discreet, understated look.

The oak handle is harder and denser than traditional beech, with a distinctive, pronounced grain; in the Black Oak design the dark metal and the natural oak colour create a strong visual contrast. The No.08 size (8.5 cm blade, 19.5 cm overall length) suits most uses: everyday carry, camping and outdoor cooking.
