No.08 | Mushroom Knife | Black Walnut

The Opinel No.08 mushroom pocket knife has a black walnut handle with an orange Alcantara cord, an 8 cm curved Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel blade, a hard scraper and a brush, 18.9 cm in open length.

This knife is designed specifically for foraging mushrooms in the woods: the slightly curved 8 cm blade easily reaches the base of the mushroom close to the ground; the hard scraper on the back of the handle removes dirt and leaf litter; and the brush at one end clears dust and insects from the cap. These three functions in one compact tool make it a core piece of mushroom-foraging kit.

Black walnut is a premium, dark-toned wood, and the orange Alcantara cord stands out in the forest, so the knife does not get lost in the leaves. The Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel blade is easy to sharpen, and the Virobloc locking ring holds it securely open. For keen mushroom foragers, it is one of the most finely made purpose-built tools available.
