Opinel knives need three main kinds of maintenance: regular renewal of the edge, nourishing and protecting the wooden handle, and cleaning the blade. The kit holds the tools needed for this in a compact metal tin that both protects and organises the items that belong together.

One of the great advantages of Opinel pocket knives is their easy-to-sharpen Sandvik steel, so regular maintenance is quick to do. The kit provides a complete basis for this routine. The metal tin keeps the contents well protected, whether in a kitchen drawer, a tool cabinet or with your camping gear.

Maintain the edge with a whetstone or honing steel; professional sharpening once a year is recommended. Do not cut frozen food, bone, or on hard ceramic surfaces.
